A Hong Kong native IP is registered in Hong Kong, so its registered location matches where it is used. A Hong Kong home broadband IP comes from local household broadband ranges and is seen by platforms as an ordinary home user. Websites, APIs and multi-site networks are fine on Hong Kong data center or native IPs. HKTVmall and Carousell stores and social media accounts, which care about a consistent login environment, are better on static home broadband/residential IPs or ISP IPs. IMIDC (Rainbow Network Limited), an APNIC member, rents Hong Kong data center, native, static residential/home broadband and ISP IPs from /24, and you can also add home broadband, residential or ISP IPs to an IMIDC Hong Kong VPS.
A common question is whether a home broadband IP and a residential IP are the same thing, and whether native means home broadband. The terms describe different aspects:
| Type | Source | How platforms see it | Traits | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hong Kong data center IP | Hong Kong data center ranges | Data center / hosting | Low cost, large volumes, /24–/16, BGP and rDNS | Websites, multi-site SEO, APIs, high concurrency |
| Hong Kong native IP | Registered locally, located in Hong Kong | Local Hong Kong IP | Clean WHOIS, not announced from abroad | Account operations, local content, local SEO |
| Hong Kong home broadband / static residential IP | Household broadband ranges | Ordinary home user | Long-term fixed, clean residential attributes, lower risk scores | E-commerce stores, long-term social account logins |
| Hong Kong ISP IP | Assigned by a local carrier and announced under its ASN | Carrier / residential | Residential attributes with data center stability and low latency | Live streaming, always-on and high-bandwidth work |
In short, native describes where an IP belongs; home broadband/residential describes the network type. Home broadband IPs are usually native, but a native IP may be a data center IP. See native IP vs announced IP.
Note that many "residential IPs" sold online are rotating residential proxies that change every so often, which does not suit store back ends that need a fixed login. Businesses are better served by legitimately sourced, long-term static residential IPs; see static residential IP vs proxy IP.
HKTVmall and Carousell are Hong Kong's leading local marketplaces, and many Hong Kong sellers also sell cross-border on Amazon. A separate Hong Kong IP and environment per store keeps the login location stable. Follow each platform's rules: separate IPs are for environment isolation, not for getting around platform reviews.
Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and YouTube dominate social media in Hong Kong. A fixed Hong Kong home broadband or residential IP looks more like a local user when registering and running accounts.
Hong Kong libraries on Netflix, Disney+ and Viu usually require a local connection, and advertisers need a Hong Kong view of how Google and Facebook ads and landing pages actually appear. Platform policies change, so rely on testing.
A native IP is enough to check local Google rankings, and a separate IP per site keeps sites from being tied to one range. Multi-IP egress also helps with collecting public Hong Kong-language data, price monitoring and competitor research; respect target sites' terms and local law.
Both come from Hong Kong household broadband ranges and are seen as ordinary home users, so they are essentially the same category; "residential IP" is the more common term internationally. ISP IPs are announced under a carrier's name and are closer to data center stability.
No. Native means it is registered and located in Hong Kong, and it can be a data center IP. Home broadband IPs are usually native.
Data center and native blocks start at /24 (256 IPs) and scale to /23, /22 and up to /16. Residential and ISP IPs are available singly or in bulk.
TikTok does not officially operate in Hong Kong, so use Japan, Taiwan or US IPs for TikTok work. Platform policies change, so test first.
